eSIM Basics
An eSIM (embedded SIM) is a digital SIM that allows you to activate a mobile plan without a physical SIM card. It's built into your device and can be programmed with a data plan instantly.
Most modern smartphones support eSIM, including iPhone XS and later, Samsung Galaxy S20 and later, Google Pixel 3 and later, and many other Android devices.
On iPhone, go to Settings → General → About. If you see 'Digital SIM' or 'EID', your device supports eSIM. On Android, go to Settings → Network & Internet → Mobile Network and look for SIM options.
Buying & Activation
Search for your destination country or region, select a data plan, and complete your purchase. You'll receive a QR code via email and in your account. Scan it on your device to install the eSIM.
Your eSIM plan activates when your device first connects to the local network at your destination — not when you install it. You can install it at home and it will only start counting when you arrive.
On iPhone: Go to Settings → Cellular → Add Cellular Plan, then scan the QR code. On Android: Go to Settings → Network & Internet → Mobile Network → Add a network, then scan your QR code.
Data & Usage
You can top up your existing eSIM from the 'My eSIMs' section in your account. Select your active eSIM and choose a top-up package to add more data.
First, ensure data roaming is turned ON. Also make sure the eSIM is set as the active data line. Try toggling airplane mode. Contact our support team if the problem continues.
Konttigo eSIM plans are data-only. Calls and SMS are not included. You can use apps like WhatsApp, FaceTime, or Skype over data.
